Adding a logo to a QR code: a test checklist

A logo makes a QR code recognizable, but it also covers information. Use a small mark, preserve contrast and test the actual exported artwork before printing.

Start with a working plain code

Create the content first and scan a simple dark code on a light background. This separates a content problem from a design problem. Check the destination or contact import before adding a logo.

Add the mark gradually

In FlexiQR, use a center logo and increase its size carefully. A higher error-correction setting can help tolerate damage, but does not make an arbitrarily large logo safe. There is no single safe percentage for every payload and scanner.

Check the center and the edges

Do not cover the three corner finder patterns. Keep a clear surround around the code and enough separation between the logo and visible modules. If the code cannot be decoded, shrink the logo or remove it before compromising the quiet zone.

Approve a real proof

Export the final file, place it in the intended layout and test the printed size. Try more than one phone in realistic light. Keep the tested project so a later change to the logo, content or size triggers another test.
